Observer food critic gives Whitby's famous cafe his seal of approval

Hard hitting restaurant critic Jay Rayner said that the Magpie Cafe lived up to his discerning palate. Having enjoyed a haddock and chips he praised the quality of the cooking and said that the batter was perfect. He closed his review by saying that if the recession meant more meals at the Magpie he was not looking forward to economic recovery!
