The Postgate Inn at Egton Bridge has been voted amongst the top ten places to eat in the countryside by the Times newspaper. There are also 3 comfortable rooms and the Inn is an ideal base for walkers.

The Magpie Cafe Whitby's most famous restaurant has received national acclaim, but be sure to book if you want to avoid a long queue! Their comprehensive menu is available on the website.

Green's Restaurant Voted "The Taste of Yorkshire" at the county's White Rose Awards, Green's was also recently named best special occasion restaurant on the North Yorkshire Coast. The Mallyan Spout Hotel Eat out in Heartbeat country and enjoy a walk to the waterfall after an excellent meal, you can also stay in a superb range of en suite rooms. The Mallyan Spout Hotel is the centre of the pretty village of Goathland. Click on the link for more information.

Trenchers Seafood Restaurant Situated in the very centre of the town and serves outstanding fish and beautiful desserts. Again you need to book to avoid a long wait but it is well worth it. contact details on the link.

The Ellerby Country Inn The best sunday lunches in Yorkshire! Ellerby is about 7 miles north of Whitby. After choosing from a wide menu why not drive the short distance to Runswick Bay for an afternoon stroll.

The Fox & Hounds The best kept secret on the Yorkshire coast, The Fox & Hounds was recently nominated as one of the top 40 restaurants outside London. Tucked away in the hamlet of Goldsborough, 8 miles north of Whitby, the Ivy trained chef Jason Davies produces wonderfully cooked food in a stunning location. Number 4 Restaurant Where local people go. Conveniently situated just out of the town centre, this super little restaurant serves excellent food in an intimate atmosphere at a reasonable price, and has been highly commended in The Moor and Coast awards 2009.
