The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway runs between Pickering and Whitby, stopping at several lovely villages on the way. On some trains you can enjoy an excellent meal in the dining car and there are frequent special events. It makes a grand day out travelling through beautiful scenery. In addition to the nostalgia of the North Yorkshire Moors steam trains a delightful journey can be taken on the Esk Valley Railway. Widely considered to be one of the hidden gems of the British railway network, it offers stunning views on its 36 mile run to and from Whitby.
