Special Award - The Raven Hall hotel has won a coveted "Best Kept Secret" award for the best view in the country.
Ravenscar is the village that time forgot; once destined to be a great resort to rival Scarborough, the grand plans fell through and now it is a peaceful hamlet sitting 600ft above the sea with the most wonderful views and the starting place for endless beautiful walks .
Raven Hall Hotel - Open to non-residents
At the heart of Ravenscar lies the Raven Hall Hotel. Originally built in 1774 as the country seat of a captain in the King's Light Dragoons, the hotel has magnificent facilities, including a swimming pool and a 9 hole golf course. The 100 acre grounds are open to the public, as are the tea rooms and restaurant which look across to Robin Hood's Bay.
We recently had a magnificent cream tea in the garden whilst enjoying the wonderful views! You can read more about Raven Hall and its astonishing history by clicking on the aerial photo above.
Stop Press - My son got married at the hotel just recently and it was a superb day!
This is the view from one corner of the hotel gardens, if you would like to get off the beaten track and enjoy the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Coast you must visit this lovely place.
