Whitby is the perfect centre for all kinds of cycling, there are long open roads through beautiful moorland, idyllic country lanes, traffic free coastal cycle trails and mountain bike routes to suit all abilities. You can of course bring your own bike, or hire cycles for all the family at very reasonable rates.


Trailways Cycle Hire lies Between Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay, alongside the Coastal Cycle Rail trail and also on the Moor 2 Sea route through Dalby Forest, Pickering and Scarborough.
The whole family can enjoy traffic-free cycling on the Whitby to Scarborough old coastal railway track.stopping at quaint villages or remote beaches along the stunning Jurassic coast.Trailways has a 100+ hire bike fleet to suit all ages and abilities and  also provide helmets and maps‚ just click on the picture above to learn more.


Doctor Sprocket'sBike Shack is situated in Skinner Street, close to the town centre. It has an excellent range of equipment and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Finally, try out my favourite short ride;14.5 miles mostly on quiet back roads with some steep climbs and descents and even a ford! Enjoy wonderful views of the countryside and the sea and stop at the Sandside Cafe in Sandsend for refreshment on the way home:
